Gurugram: Armed robbery at Raisina farmhouse, 5 booked

GURUGRAM: Five armed robbers struck at a farmhouse in Raisina area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and made away with cash, an SUV and other valuables after holding the occupants hostage at gunpoint.Jitender Thakran, a property dealer, who was at the farmhouse along with his wife, friend, manager and business associates when the incident took place told police that the accused attacked his security guard and gardener around 12.05am on Sunday and then barged into the house. There were seven people inside the house who were attacked, tied up and held hostage at gunpoint by the accused when the robbery took place.
“All five men had their faces covered. They first entered our room and overpowered us and snatched my wallet that had Rs 45,000 cash and documents. My wife’s purse that had Rs 10,000 cash was also snatched by the accused. They then attacked Dinesh (friend), Jiya (business associate), Priyanka (buisiness partner) and Uttam (manager) who were resting in the other rooms,” Thakran told police adding that after the robbery the accused snatched the keys of Thakran’s SUV (S-Cross) and fled in the car.
“The accused robbed them of Rs 68,000 cash, five mobile phones, an expensive watch, two gold rings and a gold chain,” a police officer said.
An FIR was registered against the five under sections 379B (snatching and use of force), 395 (dacoity), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at Bhondsi police station on Sunday.
The police have taken the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the farmhouse. “The accused arrived at the spot on foot and were well versed with the area, so we suspect them to be from the nearby area. We will arrest them soon,” said Narender Bijarniya, DCP (crime).
