Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Thackeray' Vs Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika', Which Film Has The Upper Hand? The Answer May Surprise You!
On January 25, one of biggest box office clashes of the year took place. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Thackeray' is facing off with Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. While there is yet time to see who emerges as the bigger money spinner, at least in terms of content, it seems the two are neck to neck, according to one famous reviewer.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, whose one-word reviews for films are taken rather seriously has come out with the verdict for both the films. Surprisingly, according to his review, both the films are super impressive as he rated them both with 3.5 stars.

Inspiring movie that has scale and soul... Kangana, take a bow. You’re terrific... First half could be tighter. Second half awe inspiring... Climax brilliant... Power, pride, patriotism - this has it all. #ManikarnikaReviewpic.twitter.com/MLRnjBewws
Calling the Kangana Ranaut starrer as 'powerful', he went on to say that the film has scale and soul and that the actress was truly brilliant in this historical epic. As for Thackeray, he called it 'gripping' as he praised Abhijit Panse's expert direction, Nawaz's awe-inspiring performance and a taut screenplay as some of the biggest plus points for this biopic on late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.

A fitting tribute to the Supremo... Is engrossing for most parts... Taut screenwriting + Abhijit Panse’s skilful direction + Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s sterling act makes it a compelling watch... Watch it! #ThackerayReviewpic.twitter.com/4xBSaRYQL0
Well, from the looks of it, it seems that both films are a winner critically at the very least and the battle will now head towards the financial front, with 'Manikarnika' clearly having the upper hand due to larger mounting and publicity. At the very least, cine-goers can rejoice that they have not one but two great films to watch this weekend. It must be noted that this is the second box office clash in 2019, the first one was between 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and 'The Accidental Prime Minister'.
