Woman molested, husband assaulted after movie
All four youth held in Bandra
The Bandra police have arrested four men for allegedly outraging the modesty of a 23-year-old woman and also thrashing the victim’s husband who tried to raise objection against the inappropriate behaviour of the accused quartet.
According to the police, those arrested have been identified as Zahid Azim Shaikh (27), Zoher Zafar Abbas Mirza (22), Anfal Khan (20) and Shakeeb Salim (24). The victim who is a resident of Bandra (E), while lodging the police complaint, alleged that a few weeks ago, while she was accompanied by her husband for a late night movie at the G7 Multiplex in Bandra (W), they had the encounter with the accused.
“After the show got over at around 12.15 am, the crowd assembled near an exit area where the accused men allegedly touched the victim's private parts. The victim initially did not realise what happened but when the accused repeated the act, she questioned them, after which they refused to answer and tried to get away. When the victim complained to her husband, he too confronted the accused, demanding an explanation and an apology which they refused to give,” said a police officer from Bandra police station.
“The heated argument then turned into a scuffle and the accused men thrashed the victim's husband with a bamboo stick lying nearby. After a complaint was registered, all the accused were nabbed last Thursday. They are all residents of Bandra. We have registered a case under Sections 354 (Outraging the modesty of a woman), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
“All the accused were produced at the Bandra Magistrate's Court yesterday and were sent to police custody. The case is still being investigated,” the officer added.
