Thackeray movie trailer faces hate speech, movie scheduled for release on 25th Jan 2019
A week ahead of its theatrical release, the movie Thackeray is still stirring controversy. Based on the life of Bal Thackeray, the movie witnesses the story of Balasaheb Thackeray from a Cartoonist to the founder of the Indian Political party Shiv Sena.
The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the lead actor who plays the role of Bal Thackeray and Amrita Rao as his wife.
Since the trailer launch of the film, the movie is witnessing hate speech from various south Indians because of its dialogue 'Uthao lungi, bajao pungi'.
South Indian actor Siddharth even tweeted: "Nawazuddin has repeated 'Uthao lungi bajao pungi' (lift the lungi and *'#$) in the film. Clearly hate speech against South Indians... In a film glorifying the person who said it! Are you planning to make money out of this propaganda? Stop selling hate! Scary stuff!"
Nawazuddin Siddiqui who plays the Shiv Sena supremo says the movie is not a propaganda, people should not judge it even before seeing it. The director says, “The film is about how a common man became a superman”.
The film written and directed by Abhijit Panse will be released on the the 93rd birthday of .
